I never paid a lot of attention to the lyrics as always, until last week when I was driving back from Hanover, NH. I was listening to AR Rahman songs and these lyrics caught my attention. It is one of those movies from 1994 that I can't rememebr seeing and one wonders why AR Rahman set music to. Obviously because he was just starting. Satyaraj is really funny in the dance sequence of this song. So, please be sure to watch it. "You, the Tamil girl from the beautiful Tamil Nadu, why are you hesitating to wear the Sari? You need to understand the difference between old history and the material things that have gotten old (in Tamil, the two words are pretty close). " Really, the second stanza is lost on me and in my mind, it appears totally incoherent and a filler of time. Enjoy!

A relatively old classic, sung by Jeyachandran and Chitra and set to music by none other than A.R. Rahman! Very simple, yet powerful lyrics. Horrible actors though! "Hey, the drop of rain who fell on me, where were you all this time? The poem that I wrote today, where were you all this time? The subtle breeze that just woke me up, where were you all this time? The beautiful music that intoxicated me, where were you all this time?" "Just the same way the life lives in a body, I have been inside you all this time" "When one opens the earth, the water will be there; When one opens my heart, You will be there; When one opens sound, Music will be there; When one opens my life, You will be there; When the skies open, the Rains will be there; When one opens my age (past history), You will be there; When one opens the night, the afternoon will be there; When one opens my eyes, You will be there". As I said, this is a lovely tune and I have attached the YouTube video below.
